Fourth Annual Willamette Weekly Beer Pro/Am – 10/15

beer-proam-breakside-brewery-portlandWillamette Weekly’s Beer Pro/Am, a unique home brewer and professional brewer collaboration competition, is back for its 4th year!

For this year’s event, 30 home brewers were each partnered with an established pro to create a brand new beer! Attend the festival this Saturday to try their new brews. You can even vote for your favorite collaboration and help elect the 2016 Beer Pro/Am People’s Choice Champion.

We’ll be voting for our brewer Ben Edmund’s collab with Ritch Marvin, a Sour Witbier with Ginger and Kumquat! It’s tart farmhouse wheat ale brewed with a mixed culture of Saccharomyces and Lactobacillus. Spicy notes of fresh ginger and juicy kumquat balance the yeast and acid profiles in this refreshing quaffer.

Breakside Brewery’s 3rd annual Oktoberfest celebration takes place this Saturday October 15th, 2016 at the Breakside Taproom & Brewery in Milwaukie, Oregon!

This all-ages event was a big hit with Breakside fans and the Milwaukie community last year, featuring a day of special beers, German style food, authentic glassware, kids activity bags. For $15, attendees get a souvenir German-style Pilsner glass and 4 drink tickets. Guests will be treated to German pub fare, German tunes and a covered outdoor area. No advanced tickets necessary.

Great American Beer Festival – 10/6-10/8

gabfBreakside Brewery is thrilled to be heading to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival this October.

Founded in 1982, the festival is annually the largest collection of U.S. beer ever served, in a public tasting event and a private competition. This year, the Brewers Association expects 800 participating breweries, 3,800 beers and 60,000 attendees. We can’t wait to try craft beers from around the country and share our own Oregon-made brews!

Swing by Interurban (the best gastropub on N. Mississippi!) on Sunday, August 28th from 3pm-9pm for Breakside beers and eats from their charcoal BBQ! The menu specifics are still being worked out, but the taplist should be enough to tempt you:

  • Liquid Sunshine Pilsner 5.2% – Imported German Pilsner malt Hallertau Hersbrucker hops, unfiltered and naturally lagered for a crisp, bright-as-sunshine beer
  • Wanderlust IPA 6% – Bright golden in color, intense tropical, dank & grapefruit notes, five different hops, light malt profile
  • State Fair Saison 7.1% – Classic saison with orange peel & coriander, notes of white pepper, tropical fruit and slight banana
  • Homunculus 6% – This rustic pale ale is created by combining Belgian farmhouse yeast, American hops & six barrel-aged Brettanomyces beers. The beers range in age from 16-24 months and create a highly funky slightly acidic beer with just a hint of the barrel character.
  • Carte Blanche 7.7% – Gin meets Brett meets hops!! The beers in this blend range in age from 16-26 months and create a balance between funkiness, acidity and a large barrel-character presence.

Breakside Milwaukie Summer Luau

Breakside Brewery celebrates the sun, refreshingly crisp, hoppy and tart beers, Hawaiian-style BBQ and family friendly games and entertainment at the 3rd annual Summer Luau at our Milwaukie, Oregon Tasting Room & Brewery. As one of the only times of the year that the Tasting Room is kid friendly, the brewery features the release of it’s most popular seasonal, Passionfruit Sour Ale and it’s Hawaiian influence with music, games and great beers on Saturday, July 23rd from Noon to 8pm.

Breakside’s Chef Mike Delaney will be cooking up a Hawaiian-themed menu with meat and veggies and specials like his famous Kahlua Pork.

Bailey’s Taproom 6th Annual Germanfest – 4/23

Celebrate German beer with Bailey’s Taproom!

Bailey’s Taproom is hosting their 6th Annual Germanfest this Saturday, April 23rd! Beginning at noon, they’ll be offering a full line up of German-style beers from Oregon breweries. Make sure to grab a pint of Breakside’s Dunkel. At 6pm, the party will move upstairs to The Upper Lip for a German-inspired chronology of electronic music (Krautrock or Berlin School if you will). Stay ’til Midnight!

Reingeitsge-Not Beerfest at Baerlic Brewing – 4/23

The German Beer Purity Law of 1516, Reinheitsgebot, turns 500 years old on April 23rd, 2016. The purity law states that beer may only be made from water, barley, hops and yeast. But, rules were made to broken and Baerlic Brewing is celebrating the NW brewing rebels with a “Not Beerfest”. Come out to their taproom on Saturday from 12pm – 5pm to try some truly unique beers. Our English Golden Ale with Lemon and Earl Grey Tea will be available alongside brews from the likes of Ex Novo Brewing, Fat Head’s Portland, Fremont Brewing Company, Gigantic Brewing Company, Ground Breaker Brewing, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Occidental Brewing Company, Payette Brewing Co., Stormbreaker Brewing and more.

kachkaCelebrate Leap Day at Kachka, as it hosts its first beer dinner, pairing traditional Russian foods with Breakside beers, on February 29th.

Chef Bonnie Morales has created a 5 course menu using traditional flavors from the former Soviet Union and Brewmaster Ben Edmunds paired each course with a complimentary brew.

Breakside Party at Hophouse – 2/25

Breakside IPA just won a month-long blind tasting contest sponsored by Hawthorne Hophouse and 15th Avenue Hophouse. We were up against Oregon IPAs from Barley Brown, Crux, Gigantic, Double Mountain, Boneyard, Fort George, Pfriem, Ex Novo, Drinking Horse, Buoy and Laurelwood. It was a tough competition and we couldn’t be more stoked on our win!

Join us on February 25th at the 15th Avenue Hophouse (1517 NE Brazee St, Portland) to celebrate. Festivities begin at 4pm, with 8 Breakside beers on tap and $3 pints of IPA ($1 if you chose Breakside during the challenge). There will be special tappings and Breakside brewers present.
